Why Full Moons Affect Our Behavior

Inspired by Home Enlightenment, by Annie B. Bond (Rodale Press, 2005).

Simple Solution:
Ask around at any hospital, police department, or mental institution and those in charge will tell you: the incidence of accidents and violence goes up when the moon is full. Ever wonder why? Sure, the moon exerts a pull on water and our bodies are mostly made of water, but there is another reason.
Find out why full moons can affect our behavior, here:
Moon cycles affect the balance of ions in the atmosphere. Full moons influence the ionosphere and bring more positive ions to the earth’s surface. When these positive ions mix with those on the earth’s surface that are more negatively charged, it actually results in changes to our bloodstream.
Blood cells usually hold a negative charge, and so do the walls of our veins and arteries. Similar charge makes for easier flow. But when the moon is full, the ions in our blood become more positive and the flow gets “stickier.” The result is poorer oxygenation and increased stress.
What to Do:
Several plants (asparagus ferns and pines, for example) emit lots of negative ions, so being around these will help you to feel balanced during times of the Full Moon.
Or you could do as pagans have done for millennia and dance outdoors under the full moon in a grove of trees. The exercise and the negative ions from the trees will help!
