Herbal Grimoire

What I have so far is an alphebetic listing of various herbs and their uses, both magickal and medicinal. But be careful! Some of the herbs listed are poisonous when taken internally. If so, they are preceded with a skull and crossbones in a very deep red, so it should be obvious. I hope to later put up a guide to the methods to prepare herbs for use, if not already listed in my short encyclopedia. The magickal uses are written first, and then the medicinal uses.

"No information on this page is intended to replace the advice of a qualified physician. Herbs can cause allergic reactions in certain individuals. Always use caution when using an herb that you are unfamiliar with. Do not take any herb internally without checking for toxicity in a good herbal!!"

POISONOUS when taken internally
(Gaelic name) (Latin Name)

Basic Definitions of Methods

Infusion: This is made like a tea. Cover 30 g of dried herb, or 60 g fresh, with 500 ml of boiling water. Cover and let steep. (Diet scales work as good tools of measure)

Decoction: Instead of leaving the herb to steep, simmer it gently in the water.

Poultice: Bruise the plant matter and pour just enough boiling water over to wet it. Apply the herbal paste to the affected part and cover with a cloth or piece of gauze that has been wrung in hot water. When the cloth cools, replace it with a hot one.
