Dreams communicate to us in different kinds of ways, depending on their type. Uncovering the meaning of your dream symbols may seem a complicated task at first, but the rewards will be immense. Stick to a routine to make sure you practice regularly, so that your interpretation skills improve. Once you become adept, you can use your dreams to work out the challenges that face you and to predict what could happen in your future. Most of your dreams will probably fit into one of the following categories.

1. Cleaning-the-mind-dreams are dreams that sort through the emotional and mental clutter caused by whatever has been on your conscious and subconcious minds. Having a cleaning dream is like having the trash collector take away the trash. Think how much junk and clutter we accumulate - we input an immense amount into our minds ever day, from television, radio, the Internet, newspapers, and numerous sounds and scenes in the background.

2. Challenge-conquering and problem-solving dreams are dreams that can help you tap into infortmation and understand valuable messages. Sometimes you may feel utterly exhausted after dreams of this type.

3. Teaching dreams are those that let you make discoveries and receive inspiration on how to handle a person or a situation, usually in your current life. They come from the higher conscious mind and can be very valuable in your waking life.

4. Premonition or intuition dreams often give you some kind of foreknowledge - a peek at something that will happen in the future. These dreams have a special feeling about them.

5. Visionary and prophetic dreams come from the higher conscious mind, which is connected to the soul. These dreams frequently come with insights, realizations, and a sense of knowingness. They often come to help make sense of spiritual matters in our lives.

6. Environmental dreams are produced when something in the environment is integrated into the dream story - a phone ringing, a song playing on the radio, a hot room, a meowing cat, barking dogs or a vehicle starting up. A full bladder or physical illness can also infiltrate your dreams.

Sometimes our dreams dont fit one of the above types, but are only dream fragments. However, even fragments are important to record, because they act as a summary, containing the essence of a dream.
